Privacy Policy
Notelet is a sticky notes app for Windows. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it is kept, and what the developer can and cannot see. In short: Notelet has no server, and the developer never receives your notes.
Data stored on your PC
- Your notes, their titles, colors and window positions, and the app's settings are saved in a database in your Windows user profile (
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Notelet). - Each time the app starts it keeps a backup copy of that database in a
backupssubfolder of that folder (the most recent 10). - The app writes diagnostic log files to your Windows temporary folder. They stay on your PC and are not sent anywhere.
Google Drive sync (optional)
Sync is off until you choose to connect a Google account in Notelet's settings. When you connect:
- Notelet asks for a single permission,
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. It lets the app see and manage only the files it creates itself. Notelet cannot see any other file in your Google Drive. - Your notes are stored as Markdown (
.md) files in a folder namedNoteletin your own Google Drive, so that your other PCs running Notelet can download them. - The app communicates directly with Google's servers. Your notes never pass through a server run by the developer, and the developer cannot read them.
- The sign-in token Google issues is stored only on your PC, encrypted with Windows Data Protection so that only your Windows account can use it.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Notelet's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from your Google Drive is used only to keep your notes in sync between your own devices. It is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not transferred to anyone.
What Notelet does not do
- No accounts with the developer, no analytics, no telemetry, and no ads.
- No data is sold or shared with third parties.
- The only network connections the app makes are to Google, and only when you connect sync or while it is connected.
Removing your data
- Stop syncing: choose "Disconnect" in Notelet's settings. This deletes the sign-in token from your PC. Notes already in your Google Drive and on your PC are left as they are.
- Revoke access: you can remove Notelet's access at any time from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Delete synced notes: delete the
Noteletfolder from your Google Drive. - Delete local data: the uninstall script that ships with Notelet (
Uninstall.bat) removes the data folder, backups, logs and the startup shortcut from your PC.
